In 1998, the voters of Broken Arrow approved a one-half percent sales tax increase in an
effort to bring higher education to the community. A little more than 10 years later, Northeastern State
University's Broken Arrow campus was rated Oklahoma's "Best Regional University." Enrollment is now well over
3,000 students and continues to climb. There are development opportunities all around the university with
frontage along the Creek Turnpike in Broken Arrow. This highway provides easy access to all points around the
Tulsa metro area increasing the trade area and making the site more attractive to retailers. The city is currently
developing an Events Park next to NSU-BA in an effort to attract thousands of people to the community for
special events.
